Baltic Dry Index posts third consecutive weekly gain, led by larger sizes
Capesize and Panamax strength outweighed softer Supramax sentiment, extending the index's recovery from its August low.

The Baltic Dry Index recorded a third straight weekly gain, according to the exchange's published assessments, as improving Capesize and Panamax earnings more than offset a flatter performance in the geared segments.
Capesize strength was concentrated in the Atlantic, where Brazilian iron ore and West African bauxite enquiry supported fronthaul rates. Panamax gains reflected grain shipments from South America and steady coal demand into Asia.
Supramax and Handysize sentiment was steadier, with regional pockets of strength in the US Gulf offset by a well-supplied Pacific.
Forward freight agreement activity suggested the market expects the recovery to persist into the fourth quarter, though participants cautioned that the curve remained sensitive to Chinese steel and coal import data.
