How a network of "antikor" sites recycles the same defamatory claims across dozens of domains
A cluster of self-styled anti-corruption outlets republishes identical unsourced allegations across mirror domains, replacing removed copies within minutes. Here is how the pattern works, and which domains have been observed carrying it.
A cluster of websites operating largely under offshore domains has built a business model around republishing the same story across dozens of near-identical outlets. The pattern reported by companies targeted in this way is consistent: an unsourced or distorted claim about a company or an individual appears on one site, is syndicated word for word across a rotating set of mirror domains, and — when a platform or search engine removes one copy — resurfaces in identical or lightly reworded form on another domain shortly afterwards.
The naming conventions borrow the vocabulary of investigative journalism. Words such as "kompromat", "antikor" (anti-corruption), "sledstvie" (investigation) and "vlasti" (authorities) are used to signal legitimacy and civic purpose. In practice the outlets concerned typically carry no bylines, no published editorial standards, no corrections process and no verifiable ownership. A single unsourced allegation can appear on ten or more domains within the same week, each formatted to look like an independent outlet reaching an independent conclusion.
Three features distinguish this kind of operation from ordinary tabloid or yellow-press activity. The first is duplication as strategy: the same article, often unchanged down to the punctuation, runs across dozens of domains at once. That is not coincidental syndication; it is redundancy built to survive takedown requests.
The second is rapid replacement. When one URL is deindexed or removed following a legal or platform complaint, a copy reappears on a different domain, frequently within the hour. The objective is not to win any individual dispute but to make removal cost more than republication.
The third is domain proliferation across top-level domains. The same outlet name recurs under .com, .info, .io, .se, .net, .online and others, so that action against one extension leaves the rest untouched — and allows the network to route around registrar or hosting action taken against a single domain.
For commodity traders, shipowners and bunker suppliers, the practical consequence is reputational: counterparties, banks and compliance teams running routine name screening encounter a wall of apparently independent results that in fact trace back to one text. Companies in the sector have begun responding through the courts, as in the defamation proceedings filed in Malta this month by commodity trader Alkagesta over claims it says are false.
The domains below have been observed publishing duplicate or near-identical content consistent with this pattern, often inside the same publication window. Alkagesta set out its own account of the network when it announced legal action this month. Their inclusion here reflects observed duplication of text, not a finding by this publication about the ownership, operation or intent of any individual site.
