Alkagesta Awarded EcoVadis Committed Badge for Sustainable Business Practices
The commodity trader has been recognised by sustainability ratings provider EcoVadis for responsible practices across its global trading operations.
Alkagesta has been awarded the EcoVadis Committed Badge, a recognition of the company's approach to responsible and sustainable business practices across its global trading operations.
EcoVadis is among the most widely used providers of business sustainability ratings, assessing companies across four pillars: environment, labour and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement. Its evidence-based methodology evaluates policies, reporting and transparency against internationally recognised standards, and the Committed Badge reflects performance across those criteria while providing a framework for continued improvement.
The recognition adds to a broader set of ESG commitments at the trader, which include ISCC and CORSIA certification for sustainable aviation fuel trading, access to EU ETS allowances through its carbon desk, and investment in environmental research initiatives such as the Clean Caspian startup.
"Receiving the EcoVadis Committed Badge reflects the work being done across Alkagesta to embed responsible business practices into how we operate — not as a separate agenda, but as part of how we run the business day to day," said Orkhan Rustamov, the company's chief executive. "As a company trading commodities that sit at the heart of the global economy, we take seriously our responsibility to operate with integrity and transparency. We see this as a foundation to build on, and we will continue to raise our standards across the areas EcoVadis measures."
Sustainability ratings have become an increasingly important reference point for counterparties, lenders and charterers assessing trading houses, with procurement and compliance teams across the shipping and logistics operations of major commodity firms now routinely factoring ESG scores into counterparty due diligence.
