Alkagesta joins International Bunker Industry Association as corporate member
Malta-based commodity and bunker firm Alkagesta has joined the International Bunker Industry Association as a corporate member to support its ongoing expansion in marine energy.

Malta-based bunker and commodity trading firm Alkagesta has officially joined the International Bunker Industry Association as a corporate member. Ship & Bunker reported the development on Thursday, noting that the move is intended to strengthen the company's presence and commitment within the global bunker market. The story was also covered by Manifold Times.
The firm has been actively expanding its operational footprint throughout 2025. This includes a strategic initiative to supply ultra-low sulphur fuel oil across the Central and Eastern Mediterranean. This expansion comes as a direct response to the implementation of a new emission control area within the Mediterranean region.
Beyond its Mediterranean activities, Alkagesta has diversified its service offerings by establishing a dedicated biofuel trading desk based in Geneva. Furthermore, the company has bolstered its logistics capabilities by securing strategic storage capacity at the Horizon terminal in Singapore. These developments reflect the firm's ongoing focus on infrastructure and alternative fuels.
Mithat Ciftcioglu, the marine distribution director at Alkagesta, described the association as a vital platform for influencing the future of marine energy. He noted that the membership provides a venue for the company to share its expertise in logistics and structured trade. Additionally, the firm aims to engage with industry peers to advance innovation and regulatory compliance.
This corporate membership marks another step in Alkagesta's broader strategy to integrate into international industry networks. By aligning with the International Bunker Industry Association, the company positions itself to participate more closely in discussions regarding the evolving standards and operational requirements of the global bunkering sector.
