Alkagesta Asia scales Singapore bunkering operations to 200,000 tonnes
Alkagesta Asia has reached a monthly volume of 200,000 metric tonnes in Singapore, supported by new storage infrastructure and a USD 1.2 billion global trade finance platform.

Alkagesta Asia Pte Ltd, established in late 2024, acts as a strategic extension of the Group’s global energy platform. According to Bunker Market, the Singapore-based entity is directed by a management-led ownership team that has implemented the Group’s established governance and operational standards within the regional hub. The company maintains a disciplined approach to growth, focusing on infrastructure readiness and financial support to ensure sustainable trading volumes. Beyond Singapore, the Group operates hubs in Malta, London, Dubai, and Geneva, all adhering to unified risk management and compliance frameworks.
Physical infrastructure has been a central component of the firm’s local strategy. By mid-2025, the company secured storage capacity at the Horizon Terminal, allowing for direct control over marine fuel inventory and delivery. This physical presence supports the company’s current trading volumes, which reached approximately 200,000 metric tonnes per month by January 2026. The monthly throughput consists of roughly 160,000 to 170,000 metric tonnes of VLSFO, 20,000 to 30,000 metric tonnes of LSMGO, and a remaining balance of HSFO. The company introduced LSMGO to its portfolio in November 2025.
Financial stability is managed through a dedicated trade finance facility with ING Singapore, which provides the necessary liquidity for scaling operations. At the corporate level, the Group maintains relationships with 28 international banks, securing aggregate commodity trade finance facilities exceeding USD 1.2 billion. This financial platform is designed to provide regional resilience and continuity of supply during periods of market volatility. The company continues to monitor geopolitical developments and shifting crude oil flows, which influence price patterns and supply chains across the global bunkering sector.
Market fundamentals for the region remain positive, with global bunker fuel demand expected to stay resilient throughout 2026. Singapore remains a critical node in the international bunkering system, recording approximately 56.8 million metric tonnes in annual marine fuel sales during 2025. The company attributes this sustained demand to consistent vessel traffic and clear regulatory frameworks. Looking forward, the firm is preparing for the industry’s transition toward lower-carbon alternatives, including biofuel blends, as regulatory requirements and decarbonisation targets continue to shape the future of the marine fuels market.
