Alkagesta secures ISCC CORSIA certification for SAF supply
Commodity trader Alkagesta has achieved ISCC CORSIA certification, enabling the supply of sustainable aviation fuel to meet international emissions standards.

Malta-based commodity trading house Alkagesta has secured ISCC CORSIA certification, MaltaToday reported. This accreditation allows the firm to trade and supply Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) that meets international aviation sustainability requirements. By operating under an ICAO-approved sustainability scheme, the company is now positioned to provide airline counterparties with verified fuel supplies that align with global emissions compliance obligations. The certification process ensures that the SAF meets specific lifecycle greenhouse-gas reduction criteria as defined by the International Civil Aviation Organisation. This development was also covered by Ccarbon.info and SAF Investor.
Anthony Guida, biofuels trader and business developer at Alkagesta, stated that the certification highlights the ongoing expansion of the company’s biofuels operations and its commitment to structured, compliant market participation. According to Guida, the accreditation establishes a clear chain of custody and traceability throughout the supply process, which assists counterparties in fulfilling both regional and international SAF requirements. Within the European market, the economic importance of sustainable fuel adoption is being driven by initiatives such as the ReFuelEU Aviation mandate and the phased reduction of free allowances under the EU Emissions Trading System.
The certification is expected to contribute to a more harmonised compliance environment by supporting transparency and consistency across international SAF markets. Alkagesta continues to advance its sustainable fuels capabilities within a rigorous trading and governance framework, aiming to support the broader transition toward lower-carbon aviation solutions. The company, which specialises in petroleum, steel, fertilisers, and biofuels, maintains a focus on integrating these activities into its existing global logistics network. This strategic move aligns with the firm's broader efforts to facilitate efficient and resilient supply chains for its international client base.
Founded in 2018, Alkagesta has grown into a multinational enterprise with 17 offices and representations worldwide. The company maintains partnerships with 28 international banks and conducts trading activities across 42 countries. Annually, the firm facilitates over 7 million metric tons of commodity flows. Its logistics infrastructure includes access to more than 700,000 cubic meters of storage capacity distributed across Europe and Asia. These assets support the company’s fully integrated trading model, which spans from initial sourcing and storage to final delivery, all managed under established governance and risk management frameworks.
The company remains privately held, with its founding team and senior leadership maintaining a significant equity stake. Currently employing over 150 professionals, Alkagesta continues to develop its operations based on tested systems and experienced leadership. Beyond its primary focus on commodities, the firm selectively engages in spot trading of petrochemicals, agricultural products, and metals. By leveraging its established market presence and logistics capacity, the company aims to maintain its growth trajectory while navigating the evolving regulatory landscape surrounding sustainable energy and global commodity trade.
