Alkagesta has secured access to the Argus Open Markets window covering European biodiesel, hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO), and used cooking oil (UCO), Alkagesta reported. This move represents a strategic expansion of the firm’s involvement in price discovery mechanisms for sustainable fuel markets. By participating in this window, the company can now submit bids, offers, and completed transactions for consideration in the price assessment processes maintained by Argus. These benchmarks are utilised extensively by producers, traders, and end users throughout the European biofuels sector to facilitate commercial agreements and market transparency.

Argus Media, which is headquartered in London, maintains a global presence with over 1,500 personnel across 32 offices located in major commodity trading hubs. The organisation provides independent price assessments and market intelligence to clients across 160 countries. The integration of Alkagesta into this window follows the establishment of the company’s dedicated biofuels trading desk in 2025. Since its inception, the desk has expanded its operational scope to include UCO origination, the trading of biodiesel and HVO, the management of EU ETS allowances, and the handling of ISCC-certified sustainable aviation fuel.

According to Anthony Guida, the Biofuels Trading Desk Lead at Alkagesta, the firm’s active participation in the Argus window is intended to increase market liquidity and improve the precision of existing price assessments. The company anticipates that this development will foster greater transparency and support the broader adoption of biofuels within the energy sector. This latest milestone builds upon Alkagesta’s previous authorisation to participate in the Platts Market on Close assessment process for EMEA naphtha physical, further solidifying the company’s footprint across both traditional petroleum and sustainable fuel commodity markets.
